I started this blog at the end of July and I’ve been going back and forth on creating a blog schedule since then. I’ve finally decided that Foreigner’s Finances will be updated on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. Sundays will be alternating with normal posts one week and round-ups (like this one) the next. Posts will be published at 10:00 P.M. Japan time or 8 A.M. EST.
I’ve also made an addition to the menu at the top of the homepage with the “FF Bookstore”. Right now, there are 6 personal finance books highlighted with more additions coming soon. These are books that changed my money life forever and I would suggest them to anyone who is looking to change or improve their current money situation. Check out the FF Bookstore here.
On Tuesday, I’ll be posting an article on the importance of giving donations as presents this holiday season. I’ll be highlighting charities and non-profit organizations you should consider helping out this month. I’m very excited about this post and will be looking for some help getting the word out to the internet world!
Remember to follow Foreigner’s Finances and/or Austin on Twitter.

Here are some personal finance posts from the last week that caught my attention:
Frugal Dad will be hosting posts from Chris of Your Money Relationship. Chris is a married twenty-something who is in debt over $150,000 from student loans, personal loans, car loans, and some credit card debt. He will be sporadically posting at Frugal Dad with updates about his debt situation. Debt stories like this are fascinating on multiple levels and I’m looking forward to following Chris’s journey.
Everyone should have a Roth IRA and the younger you are the easier it will be to start one. PT Money highlights some great reasons for starting a Roth today. It never gets easier and twenty-somethings should definitely pay attention to this article.
With the New Year around the corner, I thought it fitting to link to another article about retirement and young people into this week’s post. If you’re putting together your resolution lists definitely include opening up some sort of retirement savings vehicle. 20s Money has some good facts and words about the process.
A neat little library hack that allows you to get access to Consumer Reports just in time for big holiday purchases. Consumer Reports is the best way to research large purchases so this is definitely a worth tip from Free Money Finance.
More consumer hacks from Clever Dude as he provides links to some cheap deals on music, games, and books at Amazon. Amazon repeatedly wows me with amazing deals and I’ll support them any day.
Random Article of the Week:
Concussions in the NFL are a front-page issue of late. Gladwell writes a fascinating article about the debate and compares the NFL letting players play with concussions to owners putting their dogs into dogfights. This article is not just for the average sport’s fan.

Personal Finance Carnival
Foreigner’s Finances was lucky enough to be featured as an editor’s pick for this week’s Carnival of Personal Finance held over at the Suburban Dollar. Check out my article, 4 Japanese Personal Finance Gripes, in the Carnival of Personal Finance #234 – Weirdest Toy Crazes Edition. Thanks, Kyle!
Have a good week and see you Tuesday!
