After 5 months of blogging on a laptop I got wise and invested in a wireless keyboard. Unfortunately, it’s Japanese and some of the keys mean different things. I now have even more respect for people who try out Dvorak style.
Here are some posts I’ve enjoyed around the web the past couple of weeks. Also, take a second to donate to Haiti if you haven’t already. Information can be found at the bottom of the post.
Dough Roller – APR vs. APY – How One Letter Can Mean So Much
I’ll be honest that I had no idea what the difference was before reading this post. These 6 little letters are important because they’ll affect the big 2 purchases in your life: a car and house. Learn it now so you can save later.
Gather Little By Little – Investing Baby Steps #1: Know Who You Are
My girlfriend is going through this right now as she decides where and how to open up her Roth IRA. She’s not 100% sure what she wants her money to do over the next 5-10 years and that complicates things. Too often investing advice is oversimplified. Read this post if you’re thinking about investing, but are hesitant about the process.
How I Save Money – 10 Ways I Was Able to Save $4,700 in 2009
A comprehensive list that almost anyone can pull at least a couple of tips from. My favorite? Create a change jar. Saved them $200 over the year.
20 Something Finance – Why Graduate Degrees Are a Rip Off: Crunching the Numbers
Graduate degrees are for different people, but this post takes a look at the numbers and how long it’ll take to make the money back. How do you feel about graduate degrees?

Of course a must read for college students, but also anyone who’s confused why college students are so bad with money. This is a topic I want to explore here at FF over the next year. College students are bad with money, so how do we fix it?

Thanks for the guest post Austin!
I hope everyone gets a chance to read the post on financial bs that college students believe. I think it’s time us young folks stop believing bs and took control of our financial situations.
P.S: You’re doing a great job with building your audience on your blog Austin. Your blog will catch fire in no time. Keep it up man.

You know you can always remap the keys on your keyboard, or just order a wireless keyboard in English. Though remapping would be far far cheaper.

I think they came remapped. A couple of them are a space off but it works out well and feels normal.
I need to buy a new laptop soon. Any suggestions for getting one while in Japan? I don’t want one that’s Japanese.
